Berthil ter Avest

Berthil ter Avest ( born November 19, 1970 in wierden, Netherlands ) is a former Dutch footballer who played in the position in left midfield.

Career

Ter Avest played in his youth with his hometown club SVZW wierden. At the age of fifteen, he joined the youth team of FC Twente. In this club he graduated in 1989 his first game in the Eredivisie. After engagements at Roda JC Kerkrade and FC Groningen in 1994 he returned back to FC Twente.

In 2000 moved ter Avest with his former coach Hans Meyer in the 2nd Bundesliga to Borussia Mönchengladbach. There, he played 20 games in which he scored a goal, and rose at the end of the season in the Bundesliga. The following season, he played only one game when he came off the bench in the game against Werder Bremen in the 89th minute. After a hamstring injury he attempted a comeback at De Graafschap, where he played his last game as a professional on 8 March 2003.
