Biassono

Biassono is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 11,888 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Monza and Brianza in Lombardy. The community is located about 5 kilometers north of Monza and about 20 kilometers north- northeast of Milan on the edge of the Parco Regionale della Valle del Lambro. The Lambro flows through the district of San Giorgio al Lambro.

History

Biassono should be ( until his death in 881 868 ) have been the birthplace of Ansperto, Bishop of Milan. Perhaps the name of the village goes back to an attachment ( Fortezza dei Blasoni ). The monastery was temporarily Biassono property of Guglielmiten.

Economy and Transport

The municipality is the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, the Monza circuit, which is in September each year hosts a formula 1 Grand Prix ( Grand Prix Monza ). Together with the community Lesmo is the station - Biassono Lesmo Parco on the railway line Monza - Molteno. Expected from June 2012 to hold the line S7 S-Bahn Milan here.

Community partnership

Biassono maintains since 2010 a partnership with the Swiss municipality in the canton of Ticino Minusio.
