The Hairy Bidens ( Bidens pilosa ) is a flowering plant in the sunflower family ( Asteraceae).

Description

The Hairy Two tooth grows as annual herbaceous plant and reaches a height of 10 to 80 cm. The stem is erect and hairy. The leaves are trifoliate with ovate acuminate, crenate - serrate, pubescent leaves.

The flower heads have a diameter from 5 to 15 mm and are made of yellow tubular flowers and white or yellow ray florets. The outer bracts are green, spatulate and ciliate at the edge. They are almost as long as the hautrandigen inner bracts. The flowering period extends from April to September.

The achene is linear and black with 2-3 awns bent backwards.

Dissemination

The species is native to South America, however, was abducted and is undergoing expansion. So it is to be found already in the Azores, Canaries, Madeira, Cape Verde, Selvagens and the Mediterranean. As the site moist roadsides, wasteland and trenches are preferred.
