Bierdzany

Bierdzan, Polish Bierdzany is a town in Upper Silesia. Bierdzany located in the municipality Turawskie in powiat Opolski in Polish Opole Voivodeship.

Bierdzan located ten kilometers north east of the parish seat Turawskie and 23 kilometers northeast of the county town of Opole and voivodship.

History

In 1885 the town had 832 inhabitants.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 449 voters voted to remain in Germany and 156 for Poland .. Bierdzan remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 1,179 residents in the town. On 19 May 1936, the town was renamed in Burkardsdorf. 1939, the place had 1,151 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Opole.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Bierdzany and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to powiat Opolski. On 8 March 2012, the City also received the official German place names Bierdzan.
