Bièvres, Essonne
Bièvres is a commune with 4462 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Essonne near Paris and the administrative center of the canton of the same name.
Geography
The municipality is situated on the Bièvre, a tributary of the Seine, from which it takes its name. This derives from a Celtic word meaning beaver.
It is connected to the RER C line. Despite its proximity to Paris and Versailles, it has to resist the urge to urbanization so far and can retain their rural character.
