Bildu

Bildu ( " assembled ") is a Basque socialist electoral coalition of parties Eusko Alkartasuna and Alternatiba Eraikitzen, the platforms Araba Bai and Herritarron Garaia, as well as independent candidates for the municipal and regional elections in Spain in 2011.

Electoral alliance

Under Spanish electoral law political parties can form coalitions ( coaliciones ) and submit as joint nominations. Coalitions can always be established only for participation in a particular choice, so are not permanent organizations and its constituent parties retain their full independence.

On 6 April 2011, the two left Basque nationalist parties Eusko Alkartasuna and Alternatiba Eraikitzen shared the election authorities to stand in the following scheduled for May 22 elections in 2011 as an electoral alliance under the name " BILDU - Eusko Alkartasuna (EA ) / Alternatiba Eraikitzen ":

  • Election to the Regional Parliament of Navarra
  • Election to the provincial parliaments of the three Basque provinces of Gipuzkoa (Guipúzcoa ), Vizcaya (Biscay ), and Araba (Álava )
  • Election to local councils in the three provinces of Gipuzkoa ( with the exception of a municipality ), Bizkaia and Araba ( with the exception of a parish) in Navarra ( with the exception of two municipalities) and in the municipality Condado de Treviño
  • Election to the district councils in Navarre

The nominations were approved by the appropriate election committees and published on 26 April 2011 in the Official Journal online.

Legal proceedings

The lists of electoral alliance Bildu included not only members of both its component parties, but also independent candidates.

After the government and the public prosecutor considers that these lists were - to be regarded as continuation of the activities of the banned Batasuna party, which is why they complained to the Supreme Court (Tribunal Supremo ) against the approval of nominations for the election - especially because of the people of the recorded independent candidates. The court upheld the action on 1 May 2011 and thus from taking part in the election.

In an election constitutional complaint of Bildu towards the Spanish Constitutional Court lifted on May 5, 2011 on the judgment of the Tribunal Supremo, which the coalition was able to participate in the election.

Election results

In the elections of 22 May 2011 was Bildu in the Basque Autonomous Community, with around 25 % of the vote to become the second strongest political force after the EAJ - PNV. In San Sebastián, she was the most votes candidacy. In the elections to the regional parliament of Navarre 13.3% of the votes were cast on Bildu, making seven mandates were won. Total gained Bildu in South Basque Country 21.98 % and was thus also the second strongest force behind the EAJ - PNV.

2011 parliamentary elections

For participation in the elections to the Spanish Parliament 20 November 2011 Eusko Alkartasuna and Alternatiba Eraikitzen be again competing in an election alliance, this time involving the party Aralar. This community candidacy bears the name Amaiur.

Relation to Batasuna

There are relationships between Bildu candidates and Batasuna. This applies for example to Josetxo Ibazeta, the (now retired ) Secretary of the Mayor of San Sebastián. According to a report of the Guardia Civil is, however, approximately 45% of Bildu candidates for regional elections in 2012 to former members of the then acting legally Batasuna.
