Bill Orban

Bill Orban (* April 21, 1921 in Regina, Saskatchewan; † 18 October 2003 in Ottawa, Ontario) was a Canadian sports scientists.

Bill Orban was born as the son of Hungarian immigrants. In his youth, he played an active American football for the Regina Roughriders and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers later. He studied at the University of California at Berkeley (California ) and at McGill University in Montreal Sport Didactics and exercise science and a doctorate at the University of Illinois. 1956 to 1958 he worked at the Royal Canadian Air Force where he developed the famous 5BX exercise plan. 1958 to 1966 he was Dean of the Faculty of Sport Didactics at the University of Saskatchewan and 1968 to 1976, he headed the Department of Human Movement Science at the University of Ottawa, where he worked as a professor until 1987.

Bill Orban died on October 18, 2003 from cancer.
