Billy MacKinnon

Billy MacKinnon (* 1852, † May 24, 1942 ) was a Scottish football player. The storm to use upcoming Scottish international MacKinnon was in the 1870s, the early days of football as a brilliant dribbler.

Career

Billy MacKinnon played in his playing career from 1872 to 1879 for the Scottish capital club FC Queen's Park is the oldest football club in Scotland, which was founded on July 9, 1867. With the club he could win this with the team in the first edition of the Scottish Cup 1873/74. In the following 1874 /75 title at Hampden Park against FC Renton was successfully defended. Scorers in the 3-0 final victory, MacKinnon could enter Angus MacKinnon (not relatives ) and Thomas Highet. The last title with the Spiders could MacKinnon win at the third edition of the competition 1875/76.

The first international match of MacKinnon was also to be the first of the Scottish national football team and first official international match in the history of football. The game between Scotland and England was held on November 30, 1872 at the Hamilton Crescent in today's Glasgow's Partick. The game which around 3,000 spectators watched ended with 0:0. The Scottish team consisted entirely of players of FC Queen's Park. In its 9 international matches where he graduated up to end of his career in 1879, including eight games against England and one against Wales MacKinnon scoring five goals.
