Björn Melin
Björn Melin ( born July 4, 1981 in Jönköping ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who stands in October 2011 Lukko Rauma in the Finnish SM- liiga under contract.
Career
Melin career began in 1997 in the junior division at the HV71 in the Swedish " J20 - Superelit ", the top junior league in the country. For the 1999/2000 season he made the jump to the first team squad and completed in the Elitserien in his debut season 23 games. In the same year he was drafted in the NHL Entry Draft in the sixth round of a total of 163 out of the New York Islanders. After the 2004/ 05 season he moved to league rivals Malmö Redhawks, however, returned after a season back to Jonkoping back. After a year in the National Hockey League - there he stood for the Anaheim Ducks three games on the ice - and the American Hockey League for the Portland Pirates he again went to his home club back, for whom he played until 2010 and with whom he 2008 and 2010 champion. Also in the 2008/ 09 season reached Melin and his team the finals, where he defeated his opponent Färjestad BK and his team with 1:4 victories. The 2010/11 season began with a commitment to Melin Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk in the Kontinental Hockey League before the Swede of Fribourg- Gottéron from the National League A has been committed. For the 2011/12 season Melin received a contract with Dinamo Riga of the KHL. After eleven games without a point, he was released early from his contract in October 2011. In the same month he joined Lukko Rauma of the Finnish SM- liiga.
Internationally
For Sweden Melin took part in the U18 World Youth Championship in 1999, as well as the U20 World Junior Championships in 2000 and 2001 in part. In addition, he was in the squad of Sweden at the 2006 World Cup, where he won the gold medal with his team.
