Blanco y Negro Records

Blanco y Negro (Spanish, black and white) is an English record label that was founded in 1983 by Warner Records due to the initiative of Geoff Travis and Mike Always. Travis had founded in 1978 the company Rough Trade Records and managed the label. He also worked as A & R manager. Mike Always had previously gained experience at Cherry Red Records.

" We went to Warner and demanded a label. They said only: " Sure, no issue." First, we released the Everything- but- the- girl - album, which sold the same a million times. A year later, Mike got out, and since then I run the label. The advantage of the labels is obvious: money. So I was able to The Jesus & Mary Chain afford. "

The label was in the 1990s a part of Warner Strategic Marketing, and later by Rhino Records. There is no relationship with the Spanish label Blanco y Negro Music.
