BÅ‚otnica Strzelecka

Błotnica Strzelecka ( German: Blottnitz ) is a town in Upper Silesia in the community Strzelce ( United Strehlitz ) in the powiat Strzelecki in the Opole Voivodeship.

Błotnica Strzelecka located 19 kilometers northeast from the seat of the municipality and the county town of Strzelce and 33 kilometers east of the voivodship Opole.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1240. The name means roughly Blottnitz swamp place Sumpfort.

1885 lived in Blottnitz 592 inhabitants. In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 voted 106 inhabitants for Germany and 179 for Poland - Blottnitz remained in the Weimar Republic. In Gutsbezirk Blottnitz 52 inhabitants voted for Germany and 77 for Poland.

On March 27, 1925, came into Blottnitz a fire in which a few properties were affected. In July 1925, discovered on a field near Blottnitz prehistoric finds. 1928 Gutsbezirk Blottnitz was dissolved and incorporated into the parish Blottnitz. In the summer of 1932, there were further discoveries of skeletons and urns. 1933 lived in Blottnitz 786 inhabitants. On 3 July 1936, the town was renamed in source base. 1939 lived in Quellengrund 857 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Great Strehlitz.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Błotnica Strzelecka and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. 1945, a labor camp for German was built in Blottnitz, where residents were interned from the environment, which were provided for the expulsion. It was operated until October 1945.

In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Strzelecki.

In August 2008, a tornado ran through the town and destroyed a large part of the town, including residential and ancillary buildings, infrastructure and the park.
