Blues Project
Blues Project was an American blues band, founded in 1964 by Danny Kalb.
In addition to calf (guitar) Al Kooper were the other members (keyboards ), Steve Katz ( guitar), Andy Kulberg ( bass), Roy Blumenfeld ( drums) and Tom Flanders (vocals ).
The group linked skillfully blues, folk and jazz. However, while in the UK back in the 1950s - driven by musicians such as Alexis Korner and Cyril Davies - a blues revival had begun, America was not ready, so failed to commercial success.
Flanders left the group in 1965, Kooper and Katz went in 1967 to form Blood, Sweat & Tears. Calf disappeared under mysterious circumstances and was wanted by his friends by newspaper advertisement.
1968 gave the Blues Project his farewell concert in the cast Andy Kulberg ( flute), John Gregory ( bass, vocals ), Richard Greene ( violin), Donald Kretmar (saxophone ), Roy Blumenfeld ( drums). Afterwards the group occurred under the name Seatrain.
In 1971 there were reunion gigs and new recordings of blues Projects.
