" Born into Trouble as the Sparks Fly Upward. " is the second album by the Canadian post-rock band Thee Silver Mt Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tra -La -La band. It was published in October 2001 by Constellation Records.

Overview

The title of the album is quite likely from the Book of Job: Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upwards. In the German translation it says: but man is born to toil, / like fire sparks that fly high. The song "This Gentle Hearts Like Shot Bird's Fallen" was used at the beginning of the film Snow Angels by David Gordon Green.

On the album twice as many members as playing on the debut album in 2000 - this is probably also the reason why the name was extended. 4 of the songs are presented with vocals - this is also a significant difference to the predecessor, where only one song (Movie (Never Made ) ) with singing was.

Reviews

Thom Jurek of Allmusic wrote: " The music on Born into Trouble as the Sparks Fly Upward is breathtakingly beautiful and ghostly expression " and gave the plate 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Brad Haywood wrote in Pitchfork Media: " For the most part remains Born into Trouble an intense and charming album", but criticized the arrogance of the album and especially the song Built then Burnt [ Hurrah! Hurrah! ]. Yet he forgave 7.7 out of 10 points to the board.
