Constellation Records (Canada)

Constellation Records is an independent label from Montréal, Canada. The label was known for album releases from bands like Godspeed You! Black Emperor, A Silver Mt Zion and Do Make Say Think.

Founded in 1997 with the ambition to offer the thriving underground music culture in Montréal a concert venue for performances with later attached label, finally had a result of bureaucratic disagreements, the concept However, soon discarded, so that plate production and live performance (fragile under the title Musique ) anliefen simultaneously.

Originally from a simple apartment in the city center of agierend, Constellation withdrew in 2004 in the highly multicultural Anglophone Mile End District, one of the artistic centers of Montréal.

Ethos

Constellation Records pursues an anti- commercial, anti-capitalist and anti-globalization corporate culture; their mission is, according to the founders is to create a form of independent cultural production that could handle at least the worst investments of the modern music industry ("a mode of cultural production did critiques the worst tendencies of the music industry" ). On 25 February 2010, the founder Ian Ilavsky and Don Wilke apartheid signed a call to support the international campaign for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israeli along with 500 other artists.

Deliveries by Constellations mail order is accompanied by a handwritten thanksgiving.
