Region

Boune is a rural municipality in the Department Gouré in Niger.

Geography

Boune is located at the junction of the Sahel to large landscape Sudan and shares land borders with the neighboring state of Nigeria. The neighboring communities in Niger are Gouré and Guidiguir in the north, the east, and Goudoumaria Gouchi and Malawa in the West. The municipality is divided into 124 administrative villages, 57 traditional villages, 39 hamlets, 25 bearings and a water source. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village Boune.

History

Beginning of the 19th century was Ibrahim, son of Hadji Goarimi, the ruler of Boune. He succeeded by conquest the political unity of the territory Mounio produce, which belonged to the kingdom of Bornu. Ibrahim's son Kosso moved his seat of power in the city Gouré. The rural community Boune went out in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform from the Canton Boune, a part of which the rural community Guidiguir was slammed.

Population

At the 2001 census Boune had 48 274 inhabitants. For the year 2010 65.544 inhabitants were calculated. In Boune members of the mainly agriculture based Kanuri subgroup Manga live.

Policy

In the local elections in July 2004 Damao Mamadou ( PNDS - Tarayya ) was elected mayor. On 15 April 2010 the Council of Ministers Almoustapha Charfo appointed administrator ( Administrateur Délégué ) of the communities Boune, Guidiguir and trowel.

Economy and infrastructure

The municipality is located in a zone is operated in the rain-fed agriculture.
