Božanov

Božanov ( German Barzdorf ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers south of Broumov and three kilometers northwest of Radków on the border with Poland.

Geography

Božanov is located on the southwestern foot of the Falkenstein Mountains and north of the Table Mountains. The Waldhufendorf extends over four and a half miles along the creek Božanovský creek that forms the running southwest to northeast border below the town, and then empties into the stones.

To the east of the mountain rises Przepiórka (490 m ) south of the Biała Skala (720 m), is located behind the Szczeliniec Wielki (919 m). To the west lie Lopata (716 m), Božanovský Špičák (773 m) and Koruna ( 769 m ) north-west follows the Velka Kupa (708 m).

History

The town was founded in the wake of the reclamation of the area by the monastery Břevnov by German colonists in 1253 Villa Pertholdi was mentioned on March 15, 1256 by the Abbot Martin as one of the villages of the pen Braunau was first documented. Its name derives from a locator Perthold. Since the 14th century, the village is preserved as Berthelsdorf and in the 17th century we find the name Banzdorf. In 1363 the church became a parish church in Pertelsdorf. 1604 held the Reformation feeder. After the Munich Agreement Barzdorf, which was inhabited mainly German, was added to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged until 1945 to the district of Braunau. In the years 1945 and 1946, the expulsion of the German inhabitants took place. After the abolition of Okres Broumov Božanov came in 1961 Okres Náchod.
