Brave New World (English for Brave New World ) is the twelfth studio album by the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden. The album was released on 30 May 2000 via EMI.

Background

On February 10, 1999 Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith returned again to Iron Maiden. Dickinson replaced his erstwhile successor Blaze Bayley, Janick Gers guitarist of the group remained faithful. Since then, Iron Maiden play with three guitarists. The subsequent tour was for commercial triumph. The expectations of the quasi- Reunionsalbum the band were very large.

The album was composed before the Ed Hunter tour in the spring of 1999 in Portugal and received after this tour in the fall of 1999 in the Guillaume Tell Studios, Paris. As a new producer Kevin Shirley acted, Steve Harris was a co - producer.

The song material was more progressive than on previous albums, which was reflected in long and multipart titles such as Dream of Mirrors and The Nomad. Iron Maiden were able to win over new fans from the progressive metal stock.

  • Blood Brothers is a personal song that has Steve Harris ' relationship with his late father to content.
  • The Mercenary is about soldiers fighting in the jungle for survival.
  • Dreams of Mirrors is about nightmares and the fear of sleep. The song used pieces of text from the song Infinite Dreams on Seventh Son of a Seventh Son album.
  • The Fallen Angel is about the demon Azazel.
  • The Nomad is about people who live in the desert. Parts of the music were taken from the song Life 's Shadow Group Beckett and adapted to the Maiden style. Parts of the text are from the older Maiden song Hallowed Be Thy Name ( from the album The Number of the Beast ).
  • Out of the Silent Planet was inspired by the movie Forbidden Planet. With the novel by C. S. Lewis ( German title: Beyond the silent star) has the song, as was first thought, nothing to do.

Singles

The Wicker Man and Out of the Silent Planet were released as singles. With The Wicker Man, the band appeared at the German edition of the TV show Top of the Pops.

In addition, a promotional disc was released with a special mix for American radio stations, which has a strong chorus and abgeändertem played drums.

The song was coupled on 8 May 2000, the live recordings were recorded on "The Ed Hunter Tour" in 1999. Also, a picture disc version was released. Instead of the live songs from the CD, Maxi Powerslave and Killers are on the single. The song reached number 38 in Germany, in England 9th place

Out of the Silent Planet

The single was released on 2 October 2000. As with its predecessor, the live songs come from the " Ed Hunter " tour. In addition, there is still the video for Out of the Silent Planet in the recorded music. In Germany the song reached number 66 of the singles chart.
