Breidis Prescott

Breidis Enrique Prescott Consuegra ( May 3, 1983 in Barranquilla ) is a Colombian professional boxer in the Light Welterweight.

Amateur career

Breidis Prescott won as an amateur five Colombian championships, most recently in 2004 in the light welterweight. In 2002 he participated in the Light Welterweight at the 19th Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador, where he moved after beating Anthony Lennox from Guyana to the quarterfinals. He achieved a draw ( 22:22 ), where Torres was eventually explained by auxiliary points the winner against local hero Carlos Torres.

In 2003 he started in the Light Welterweight at the 14th Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, where he re- moved with a victory against Lucas Matthysse of Argentina in the quarterfinals. Again he reached a draw against Juan de Dios Navarro from Mexico ( 14:14 ), which was then also explained by auxiliary points to the winner.

2004 won Prescott gold medal in the light welterweight at the Independence Cup in Santiago de los Caballeros and tried for the Summer Olympic Games in Athens to qualify, but failed in the U.S. elimination fights in Tijuana and Rio de Janeiro respectively against the American rock Allen.

Professional career

In July 2005, he played his first professional fight and won to February 2009, each of his 21 fights, 19 by knockout. He was Colombian champion in the light welterweight division, and Central American champion of the WBC light welterweight and lightweight. Among his defeated opponents included Jaison Palomeque (4:0 ), José Agustín Feria ( 11:0 ), Richard Abril ( 10-0 ) and Humberto Toledo ( 33:5 ).

Probably the most significant win of his career, he celebrated on September 6, 2008 in Manchester, as he later multiple world champion Amir Khan ( 18-0 ) to just 54 seconds of round hard co hit and thus new Intercontinental Champion WBO was at lightweight. From Ring Magazine he was then performed on eighth place in the world rankings.

On 17 July 2009 he suffered in Las Vegas the first defeat of his professional career when he was subject to subsequent IBF world champion Miguel Vázquez ( 24:3 ) from Mexico just for points. Vázquez, who suffered a precipitate in the first round of the fight, was seen at the end of two judges with 95-94 and 96-93 front, while the third judge evaluated the fight 97-92 for Prescott. In his next fight on December 5, 2009 in Newcastle, he was beaten on points Kevin Mitchell ( 29:0 ).

After three victories following structure in the United States, he was allowed to compete against Paul McCloskey ( 22:1 ) on September 10, 2011 in a world title eliminator fight the WBA, but this encounter lost in Belfast not without controversy on points. McCloskey also had to in the first round to the ground. On 12 November 2011, he boxed in Las Vegas at the Latin American Championship of IBF, but lost it the first time early in the tenth round against Mike Alvarado ( 31:0 ) from the USA. Prescott had been lying up to this point, all three judges in the lead.

On August 18, 2012, he beat Francisco Figueroa ( 20:4 ) by unanimous decision. On March 30, he should fight in Las Vegas against Chabib Allachwerdiew to the world title of the WBA and IBO, however Allachwerdiew injured in preparatory training at the elbow. The fight date had to be canceled.

Others

His younger brother Daulis Prescott ( born 1986 ) is also a professional boxer and was in December 2012 world title challenger by the WBA featherweight.
