History

Breitbrunn was first documented in the year 1112. The local rights of the Prince-Bishopric of Bamberg (St. Catherine's Hospital) fell in the kingdom in 1803 to Bavaria, which the Barons von Guttenberg 1806 mediatized. 1810 the entire territory of the Grand Duchy of Würzburg of Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany was assigned as part of border adjustments and came back to Bavaria in 1814.
