Brestovac (Negotin)

Brestovac (Cyrillic: Брестовац ) is a village in the Opština Negotin and boron district in the east of Serbia. It is located three kilometers south of the road Negotin - Zaječar.

The village has a primary school, which was built in 1885.

History and name

The village is first mentioned in Turkish records of the 15th and 16th century. According to other records of the year 1530, the village had only 8 houses, making it the smallest village in the Opština Negotin was then.

In the 18th century they found the village on Austria -Hungarian maps under the name " Prestowac ( Prestovatz ) ". In 1718 it was Brestovac, 1784 it was, however, " Brestovacz ".
