Urovica
Urovica (Cyrillic Уровица ) is a village in the Opština Negotin in the district of Bor in eastern Serbia. The place Urovica consists of the districts Valja Mare, Srbija, Buljevica and Buljevica mika.
History and name
In the 16th century existed on the present site of the village Urovica two villages called Gornja Huhurovica ( Upper Huhurovica ) and Donja Huhurovica ( Lower Huhurovica ).
On the Map Temišvarski Banat village is first mentioned as a village under the name Orovitc. Since 1811 the village was called Urovica, then, in 1833, the village was called Rovica. Why it was then called Urovica, is not known.
Population
The 2002 census (self- nomination) revealed that 1,191 people live in the village.
