Bruce Iglauer

Bruce Iglauer (* July 10, 1947 in Ann Arbor, Michigan) is the founder and owner of the independent label Blue Alligator Records.

Life

Iglauer was born in Ann Arbor and grew up in Grand Rapids. During his studies at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, he was familiar with the blues. At the university, he hosted a blues radio show and was promoting concerts of Howlin 'Wolf and Luther Allison. Here he met Bob Koester know and came into Chicago at Delmark Records a. After the contract of Hounddog Taylor was not signed by Delmark, he founded in 1971 Alligator Records. To date, the label has recorded about 250 albums with various blues and blues rock artists.

Bruce Iglauer in 2002 " Chicagoan of the Year". He also founded the National Association of Independent Record Distributors ( NAIRD ), later renamed the Association For Independent Music ( AFIM ). He sits on the board of the Blues Foundation, Blues Community Foundation and the American Association For Independent Music ( AFIM ). Jihlava is married to Jo Kolanda, she brought a daughter in marriage to the couple also has a daughter.
