Bubikon (deprecated Bubigheim ) is a municipality in the district Hinwil the canton of Zurich in Switzerland.
Coat of arms

The coat of arms of the municipality Bubikon is already shown in the chronicle of was John Stumpf, the priest and prior of the Knights' House to Bubikon and was adopted as the official coat of arms.
A white cross on a red background stands for the Knights of St. John. On the Crusades this sign was worn on the tunic. The white cross on a black ground dovetail means to fight the knight against the disease. It symbolizes compassion. Moreover, the coat of arms was already listed in the " Chronicle of Eydgnoschaft " by Johannes Stumpf ( published mid-16th century ) largely in its current form.
The first settlers, the clan of the Alemanni Bubo, the Buobinge are represented by the two black B on golden background.
Geography
The municipality belongs to the district of Bubikon Wolfenhausen and the hamlet Barenberg, Berlikon, guarantees and Wändhüslen.

Religion
December 31, 2011 consisted of 45 percent of the population of the Evangelical Reformed Church, and 26.2 percent of the Roman Catholic Church. In Bubikon there is also a Free Evangelical church and the Martus community.

Traffic
The municipality owns next to major thoroughfares with a connection to the Oberland motorway ( A53 ) towards Zurich and Rapperswil.
Even the connection to the public transport is excellent. Thus, the municipality has a station on the S -Bahn Zurich with quarter-hour connections of the lines S 5 and S 15:
- S 5 Niederweningen / Rafz - Upper Smooth - Zurich HB - Uster - Pfäffikon
- S 15 Affoltern am Albis - Zurich HB - Uster - Rapperswil
There are the following bus routes that are served by the transport company and Zurich Oberland ( VZO ):
- 880 Station Ruti - Bad Kämmoos - Bubikon - Wolfenhausen - Hombrechtikon - Stafa Frohnberg
- 882 Station Bubikon - Durnten - Oberdürnten - Breitenmatt
- 883 Station Bubikon - Herschmettlen - Hellberg - Station Wetzikon
Previously Bubikon was a railway crossroads, and the lines of the United Swiss railways crossed with the Uerikon - Bauma -Bahn and granted in all four directions port so to Hinwil - Bauma, Ruti ZH -Rapperswil SG, Wolfenhausen - Uerikon and Wetzikon Zurich.
Attractions
On a Nagelfluhsporn in the southeast of the municipality is the Knight Bubikon. It was donated in 1192 by Diethelm of Toggenburg V. the Order of St. John, and was subsequently expanded to come. 1570 the house was last expanded and is now the best preserved of St. John in Europe. The house is owned by the company, founded in 1936 Ritterhaus Bubikon that it maintains and operates a museum about the history of the Crusades and the Knights.
