Bucey -lès- Traves is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Bucey -lès- Traves is located at an altitude of 215 m above sea level, 4 km south of Scey -sur -Saône -et -Saint -Albin and about 14 km west of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, a slight increase on the eastern edge of the Saônetals.

The area of ​​2.79 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the middle Saône Valley. The western border is always along the Saône, which draws a large, south -flung arc here. The Alluvialniederung the Saône is on average 205 m and has a width of about one kilometer. The river is expanded to the waterway, the loop is cut off at Bucey -lès- Traves through a side channel. The banks are therefore obtained in the area of the village in near-natural state, and the Saône forms in several places small islands.

From the river, the municipality's area extends eastward across the alluvial plain and a steep slope on the adjacent plateau. This plateau consists of an alternation of calcareous and sandy- marly sediments of the upper Jurassic period. It is subdivided by several short Talnischen, which open to the Saône out. The fertile soils of the valley and the plateau are mainly used for agricultural purposes. In the far east of the communal land extends into the extensive grove of Bois des Minières. With 250 m is reached on a hill northeast of the village is the highest elevation of Bucey -lès- Traves.

History

By municipality led a Roman Road, are available from the remains. In the Middle Ages Bucey belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The village was under a Commandery of the Knights Templar. Together with the Franche -Comté came Bucey -lès- Traves with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Bucey -lès- Traves is a member of the comprehensive 22 villages municipal association Communauté de communes des Combes.

Population

With 106 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Bucey -lès- Traves is one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. Throughout the 20th century, the population fluctuated in the range of 55-120 persons.

Economy and infrastructure

Bucey -lès- Traves was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Scey -sur- Saône to Fretigney -et- Velloreille. Another road connection with Pontcey.
