Bud Houser

Bud Houser (actually Lemuel Clarence Houser, born September 25, 1901 in Winnigan, Missouri, † October 1, 1994 in Gardena, California ) was an American discus thrower and Olympic champion.

Career

From 1921 to 1928, he always took a leading place in the world leaderboard years. He won first place only in 1926, when he with 48,20 m set a world record in Palo Alto on April 3. This performance would be his best. In the shot put Houser was 1924-1926 Second World years Bestof, his best performance was 15.42 m.

At the Olympic Games in 1924 he won with 14,995 in the shot put and discus throw with 46.155 in the two Olympic gold medals. This double victory succeeded in the history of the Olympic Games but him only Robert Garrett in 1896 and Martin Sheridan at the Olympic Games between 1906. During the Olympic Games in 1928 with 47.32 Houser could again be Olympic champion in discus throw.

After his athletic career, Houser worked as a dentist in Palm Springs ( California).
