Busy, Doubs

Busy is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Busy is located at 310 m, about 10 km southwest of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located near the western edge of the Jura, on a terrace on the northern slope of the ridge between the valleys of Doubs and Loue in the north to the south.

The area of ​​5.20 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the western French Jura. The main part of the area is occupied by a trough that is drained by a narrow valley cut north to the Doubs. In the north of the municipality of soil over a laced part of rock bands steep step up to the Doubs reaches down as it flows through the outermost foothills of the Jura Mountains to the southwest. To the east, the municipality's area extends over the adjacent hills to the edge of the Grand Bois north of the Loue. History

The place name is derived from the Latin word buxus ( boxwood ). In the Middle Ages Busy belonged to the dominion of Arguel. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Attractions

  • The village church of Saint- Pierre -et -Paul was in 1754 on the site of a previous medieval building (13th century ), rebuilt and enlarged in 1840.
  • The current bell tower was added in 1865.
  • The " Château " is a manor house dating from the 18th century in the characteristic style of the Franche -Comté.
  • In the former vicarage is now the town hall.

Population

With 571 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Busy is one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (1901 328 persons were still counted ), a significant population increase has been recorded since the early 1960s again. Since then, the population has more than doubled.

Economy and infrastructure

Busy was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture ( farming, fruit growing and dairy farming ) embossed village. The village has good transport links. It is located near the main road N83, which runs from Besançon Lons -le- Saunier. Further road links exist with Fontain, Chenecey- Buillon and Boussières.
