Buturlinovka
Buturlinowka (Russian Бутурлиновка ) is a town in Voronezh Oblast (Russia) with 27 208 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geography
The city is situated on the northern edge of the Kalatscher heights about 240 km southeast of the Oblasthauptstadt Voronezh on the upper reaches of the Ossered, a left tributary of the Don.
Buturlinowka is the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.
The town lies on the railway line opened in 1896 Talowaja ( along the route Kharkiv Balashov - Pensa ) Kalatsch ( today only freight), which branches off from a distance to Pavlovsk here.
History
The town was founded around 1740, when the Empress Elizaveta Petrovna Field Marshal Alexander Buturlin donated the surrounding lands, which was named after the place. In the 19th century it was an important craft center.
The town charter was granted in 1917.
