Bykovo, Ramensky District, Moscow Oblast

Bykowo (Russian Быково ) is an urban-type settlement with 10,391 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ) in Russia in the Moscow Oblast. The very famous through the lying on its territory Regional Airport Moscow Bykowo settlement is located 34 km southeast of Moscow, between the towns Ljuberzy and Zhukovsky.

History

The village was founded in the early 1860s with the construction of the railway line from Moscow to Ryazan. 1933 Bykowo airport was put into operation in their vicinity, in 1975 gained its present station building of the airport.

Economy and Transport

The economy in Bykowo is mainly influenced by the airport: There is a service station for airplanes as well as several hotels. The industry is represented in place with several food factories and a factory for equipment construction.

Near the airport is the Bykowo station on the Moscow - Ryazan route. There hold local trains from the direction of Moscow ( Kazansky railway station).
