Cahul (1944-1989 Cyrillic Кахул ), Russian Kagul ( Кагул ) is a city in Moldova and is located in the same Cahul Raion. In January 2003 it had about 41,100 inhabitants.
The city is a resort town with a famous source of sulfur. The local economy is dominated by the wine trade and the food industry. In addition, Cahul is a university town.
