Calusco d'Adda

Calusco d' Adda is a municipality in the Province of Bergamo in the Italian region Lombardy with 8296 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

Calusco d' Adda is located 14 km west of the provincial capital of Bergamo and 35 km northeast of the city of Milan.

The neighboring municipalities are Carvico, Medolago, Paderno d' Adda ( LC), Robbiate ( LC), Solza, Terno d' Isola and Villa d' Adda.

Attractions

The old parish church of San Fedele is one of the most interesting places in the municipality Calusco d' Adda. The church was extended again and again between the 11th century and the 17th century. Although she is now a civilian building, but it still contains many frescoes, including by the Italian painter Antonio Cifrondi.

The new parish church was built in the nineteenth century, and includes a Works that was previously in the old parish church.

Furthermore, there is in the church, the church of Santa Maria Bambina in the district Vanzone, dating from the thirteenth century. Inside there are works of great value.

The church of Santa Maria Assunta, in the district Baccanello was built in the sixteenth century and was the site of a monk monastery and is decorated with numerous works, including paintings by Francesco Zucchi.

The Ponte San Michele is made entirely of iron. It is located 88 meters above the river Adda and serves the rail as road traffic.
