Can not Buy a Thrill is the first album by the American band Steely Dan from 1972. 1993 it was certified gold for 500,000 copies sold.

General

The album title comes from Bob Dylan's song It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry by Highway 61 Revisited.

David Palmer was the singer of the title Dirty Work and Brooklyn, Jim Hodder Midnite Cruiser, the rest was sung by Donald Fagen.

In the liner notes of The Royal Scam album remasters the composer Donald Fagen and Walter Becker designated 1999, the record sleeve as " the ugliest album cover of the seventies, with the possible exception of Can not Buy a Thrill ".
