Canadian North

Canadian North, legally Air Norterra Inc, is a Canadian freight and passenger airline based in Yellowknife, and based on the Yellowknife airport. It is wholly owned by the Inuvialuit and Inuit natives from Western Canada and the Northwest Territories.

History

Retroactive brings the history of the Canadian North traced back to the year 1926, when the Canadian Airways was founded, which later became Canadian Pacific Air Lines, and then went along with Western Pacific in the Canadian Airlines International ( CAI). In 1998, the Northern Division of the CAI to the Norterra, which belongs to the indigenous people Inuvialuit and the Inuit in equal parts, sold. The route network was largely retained in the acquisition. The airline named in the current name Canadian North and defines this as its official founding date. The rest is summarized under the terms predecessor and experience. 2008 Canadian North was able to celebrate as its 10th anniversary.

Destinations

Canadian North operates its main base and its main hub in Yellowknife and also has a smaller base in the approximately 2500 km distant Iqaluit. The destinations are mainly used to supply the inhabitants of northern and western Canada, where in addition to passenger transport of freight traffic is flown. Serve this purpose, the two Boeing 737- 200C, which has a booth in which you can convert the passenger seating quickly when needed completely or partially in a freighter configuration. Goals from hub Yellowknife include Calgary, Edmonton, Inuvik, Norman Wells, Hay River, Kugluktuk, Cambridge Bay, Gjoa Haven, Taloyoak, Kugaaruk, Rankin Inlet and Iqaluit. From Iqaluit there is a connection to the capital Ottawa and flights, as well as in Yellowknife to other small airports in the region. Canadian North also flies some routes, especially in smaller destinations with stopover. Also International flights are operated by Canadian North, but only in the charter, for example, in the United States.

In order to provide their customers with better connections, the Canadian North operates agreements and partnerships with many airlines. The most important partnerships with the regional airline Calm Air and the Canadian flag carrier Air Canada. There is also cooperation with Aklak Air, Air Tindi and North -Wright Airways.

Special Programs

The Canadian North Air Pass is a Kouponsystem for frequent flyers on the track of the Canadian North, from Ottawa to Iqaluit. It includes 10 Simple direct flights Ottawa - Iqaluit and costs 5,650 Canadian dollars plus taxes and fees for each departure.

The Arctic Circle Air Pass is a one round- the-world ticket like system. The program, which is operated in cooperation with Air North, costs from 879 Canadian dollars and is valid for flights to 8 destinations in the Northwest Territories or the Yukon within 45 calendar days. It can be used on flights of both airlines.
