Canneto (Caronia)

Canneto di Caronia or Canneto is a fraction of the place Caronia. Canneto has about 150 inhabitants and is located in the province of Messina, on the coast between Palermo and Messina in Sicily in Italy.

Since January 24, 2004 mysterious things are reported from this place that should have happened:

  • Fuse boxes and household appliances go up in flames, even though the power is off.
  • Remote car doors change of their own radio code.
  • A chair is gone up in flames.
  • A railway barrier at the track Messina -Palermo unresponsive. Therefore, the road crossing was closed.

Scientists at the National Research Institute CNR investigate the incidents, where they have recently been supported by NASA physicists. Currently (November 2007), it is assumed that the phenomena are caused by the electromagnetic emissions that are active only in certain moments; more detailed explanations, however, there is not so far. The government had to evacuate part of the village. The state of emergency was imposed.
