Canton of Bourbon-l'Archambault

Bourbon l'Archambault is a canton of the arrondissement of Moulins in Allier in the Auvergne region of France. It includes eight municipalities, the capital is Bourbon l'Archambault. Representatives in the conseil général of the department since 2003, Gilles Mazuel.

History

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 with the establishment of the departments as part of the then district Moulins. With the establishment of the arrondissements on 17 February 1800 the canton was associated with the new district Moulins and re-cut.

Geography

The canton is bordered to the north by the Canton Lurcy -Lévis, on the east by the Canton Souvigny, on the southeast by the District of Le Montet, in the south to the canton in the Arrondissement Montmarault Montlucon and to the west by the cantons Hérisson and Cérilly, also in the arrondissement of Montlucon.
