Canton of Ébreuil

Ébreuil is a canton of the arrondissement in Montlucon Allier in the Auvergne region of France. It comprises 14 municipalities, the capital is Ébreuil. Representatives in the conseil général of the department is Dominique bidet since 1994.

History

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 with the establishment of the departments as part of the then " district Gannat ". With the establishment of the arrondissements on 17 February 1800 the canton was associated with the new district Gannat and re-cut. On September 10, 1926, the arrondissement Gannat was dissolved and added to the canton of the arrondissement Montlucon.

The canton is bordered to the north by the Canton Montmarault, on the northeast by the Canton Chantelle in the arrondissement of Moulins, in the east to the Canton Gannat in the arrondissement of Vichy, on the south by the Canton Menat and to the west by the Canton Montaigut, both in the arrondissement of Riom in the department Puy -de- Dôme.
