Cap-d'Ail

Cap d'Ail (French Knoblauchkap ) is a commune in the Côte d' Azur and the border town of the Principality of Monaco with 4877 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).

Geography

Cap d'Ail is located at the foot of the towering mountain Tête de Chien to La Turbie.

History

The place was only developed in the late 19th century. The two bays located in natural beaches, Mala and Marquet, benefiting tourism and proximity to Monaco was Cap d'Ail is a popular place of residence. The numerous villas in the style of the Belle Epoque with spacious Mediterranean gardens originated in the first half of the 20th century.

Leisure and Tourism

About two, located at different heights, developed hiking trails along the coast, the view over the town, the sea and the mountains can be enjoyed.

Traffic

Through the village the lower coastal road ( Basse Corniche ) RD6098 leads ( before 1933 RN7A 1933-1973 RN559 and then to 2006 RN98 ). Via a connecting road you will reach the Moyenne Corniche and to La Turbie. Through a station Cap d'Ail is connected to the railway Marseille- Ventimiglia.
