Caprino Veronese

Caprino Veronese is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 8171 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Province of Verona in the Veneto region. The municipality is situated approximately 23 km northwest of Verona and about 9 kilometers east of Lake Garda. The church is the center of the Comunità montana del Baldo.

History

The name of the municipality or locality is derived from the Celtic tribe of the Cauri, which possibly was a trading center here. From the beginning of the 15th century until the late 18th century, the area along with the village of the Republic of Venice.

Community partnerships

Caprino Veronese has partnerships with the French town of Saulieu in the Côte-d'Or department and the Rhineland-Palatinate city of Gau- Algesheim ( Germany ).

Economy and Transport

The community lives primarily from tourism. From here, directly to the Monte Baldo achieve.

From 1889 until final closure in 1959 had the site of a station on the railway line Verona-Caprino/Garda.

East of Caprino Veronese extends the Autostrada A22 in north-south direction along the Adige. The nearest port is located, however, in the municipality of Affi.
