Caproni Ca.114

The Caproni Ca.114 was an Italian fighter aircraft.

History and construction

The Caproni Ca.114 and was developed in 1933. The goal was to win the tender for the Regia Aeronautica for a new single-seat fighter aircraft. The biplane in einstieliger execution was carried out in mixed construction. He had two equally long wings, one of which was offset slightly to the front, the upper. The fabric-covered wings had a double beam structure, the hull was made ​​of steel tubing with fabric covering and metal sheets.

The powerplant of the Bristol Mercury radial engine came with Townend ring and a three-bladed propeller used. Although the Ca.114 was lighter than the competing Fiat CR.32 and ordered according to a higher climb rate, it was not the winner of the competition.

Despite the defeat in the competition several of Ca. 114 for an export order of the Peruvian Air Force ( Cuerpo de Auronautica del Peru ) were prepared.
