Caproni Ca.164

The Caproni Ca.164 was an Italian trainer aircraft.

History and construction

The Caproni Ca.164 was a sesquiplane with wooden wings, which were covered with fabric. The fabric-covered fuselage also consisted of welded steel tubes. The machine was manufactured in 1935, among other things -built factory Predappio. The non- retractable landing gear was partially clad and the separate cockpits each had a low windshield. When connecting the wings similarities with the Caproni about 100 are observed.

Designed as a travel and training aircraft was a low quantity of the Regia Aeronatica. However, it has been equipped with this model never had a complete unit. A total of 279 units were built, of which about 150 work in Predappio.

1942 Ca.164 was used as a tactical reconnaissance aircraft for short-haul routes in the fight against partisans in Croatia.
