Carl Alexander von Volborth

Carl Alexander of Volborth (* February 21, 1919 in Berlin, † February 25, 2009 Antwerp) was an American heraldist German origin.

Life

He was since 1945, first in Germany and since 1952 in the United States as a freelance artist working. In the United States he was a teacher and lecturer in art history. From 1969 he lived and worked as a freelance artist and heraldry in Antwerp.

His parents were both artists with Russian, German, Swedish and English roots. Although of noble origin of the title of Baron was not needed.

He was a member of the Herald 1990, Association for Heraldry, Genealogy and Related Sciences in Berlin eV and member of the International Academy of Heraldry (L' Académie Internationale d' Héraldique / Paris ) and the Heraldry Society of Canada since February 17,.

As a ' Freelance Herald Alexander Troblov ' he also published a few heraldic works with fine humor, along with his friend, the Herald Marc Van de Cruys.

As a heraldic artist he drew family crest for Wernher von Braun (1912-1977) and Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker ( 1912-2007 ).

Awards

  • He received the Gustaf - of - Numers Prize 1984. Award is named after the Finnish heraldry Gustaf of Numers ( July 31, 1912 to 21 May 1978).
  • The medal 'Pro Merito ', from the International Genealogical and Heraldic Konfederation, Krakow, 1995.
  • The medal ' Ottfried Neubecker ', Pro Heraldica, Munich, 1997.
