Carl Bergmann (anatomist)

Carl Bergmann ( born May 18, 1814 Göttingen, † April 30, 1865 in Geneva; Complete name: Carl Georg Lucas Christian Bergmann also: Karl Georg Lucas Christian Bergmann ) was a German anatomist and physiologist.

In 1847 he published the work over the ratios of the heat economy of animals to their size in the Göttingen studies. The relationship between heat balance and body size in animals was named after him Bergmann's rule. In 1864 he was elected a member of the Scholars Academy Leopoldina.
