Carl Bloch

Carl Heinrich Bloch ( * May 23, 1834 in Copenhagen, † February 22, 1890 ) was a Danish painter.

Bloch should become a sailor at first, but betrayed early an excellent plant for painting and attended since 1849, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in his native city. From 1854-1859 he created a series partly serious, partly humorous and idyllic genre scenes from the Danish People's Life ( A thunderstorm at losbrechendem the return of the men expected fishing family, Sunday afternoon, The little Potato Eaters, etc.).
