Carl Christian Reindorf

Carl Christian Reinsdorf (* 1834, † 1917) was a Ghanaian pastor of the Basel Mission Church and writer.

Life

He was born into a family of merchants of the Ga people in Accra from a mixed marriage with a Danish officer and distributors. After his training by the Basel Mission in Ghana, he became a teacher and in the following years pastor of the Basel Mission Church in Ghana.

His main work is to have been the first African who has written a ajar to western standards story of an African region. Some reference to the works of another pastor from that time, namely Johann Gottlieb Christaller is felt. Christaller also worked to fix the oral traditions.

Clean village method consisted in the survey of 200 men and women to write down these people recorded history. Like other writers who went to the unusual for her time field of oral traditions, Reinsdorf received very little recognition for his work.
