Carl Ludwig II, Prince of Hohenlohe-Langenburg

Karl Fürst zu Hohenlohe -Langenburg ( born October 25, 1829 in Langenburg, † May 16 1907 in Salzburg ) was the fifth ruler of the house of Hohenlohe- Langenburg.

Youth and Education

Karl was born as the eldest son of Prince Ernst I of Hohenlohe- Langenburg and his wife Princess Feodora of Leiningen. After living in Dresden and Gotha to educational purposes, he studied three semesters of law at the Friedrich Wilhelm University in Berlin ( 1850-51 ). He then spent some years in the headquarters in preparation for his upcoming role as a nobleman. It was not until the mid-1850s he proposed a military career in the Austrian one, later Württemberg in the army, although he was already appointed in 1848 Württemberg officer. Since 1855 he was an honorary Knight of the Order of St. John.

Family

1861 married Prince Karl the butcher 's daughter Marie Grathwohl in Paris and led with her ​​and the children first in Weikersheim since 1877, in Salzburg, a retired life. From this marriage the following children were born: Carl, Victoria and Beatrix.

Demise

Prince Karl zu Hohenlohe -Langenburg died in 1907 in Salzburg and was buried at the Salzburg municipal cemetery.
