Carosino

Carosino is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 6963 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Taranto in Apulia. The community is located about 14 kilometers east of Taranto in Salento. Carosino Unione dei Comuni is part of the di Montedoro.

History

The first written mention dates to the year in 1348. However, can be a treasure of silver coins from the time of the Greek conquest of southern Italy involved an earlier settlement. Worth seeing is the Ducal Palace ( Palazzo Ducale ) from the early 15th century.

In the area of the grape Primitivo and olive groves. Passing through the municipality, the former State Road 603 di San Giorgio Jonico (now the provincial road ) towards Francavilla Fontana.
