Carsta Genäuß

Carsta Genäuß ( born November 30, 1959 in Dresden) is a former German canoeist.

Carsta Genäuß was apprenticed to Gebrauchswerberin. She started for the SC Einheit Dresden, where she was coached by Rolf Zeidler. 1975 and 1977 she won the title in one kayak at the Junior European Championships in 1975 also in the four-man kayak and 1977 in two. In the Elite range, she launched since 1978. This year she won the four World Champion. After Marion Rösiger was removed for political reasons from the doubles with Martina Bischof, Genäuß got their place. The double won the gold medal in the 500 m at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. Then they got married and now joined under the name Carsta Kühn. At the World Championships in 1981, 1983 and 1985, she won six gold medals. Twice she won with Birgit Fischer K 2 and K 4 After her active career Genäuß worked as Gebrauchswerberin in Dresden and later as a restorer in the State Office of Archaeology Saxony. She is now divorced.

Carsta Genäuß in 1980 awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver and 1984 gold.
