Cass County (Indiana)

Cass County is a county located in the state of Indiana in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Logansport.

Geography

The County is located in north-central Indiana and has an area of 1075 square kilometers, of which five square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Fulton County, Miami County, Howard County, Carroll County, White County and Pulaski County.

History

Cass County was formed on December 18, 1828 from parts of Carroll County. It was named after Lewis Cass, an American general, politician, and Foreign Minister.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Cass County 40,930 people in 15,715 households and 10,921 families. The population density was 38 people per square kilometer.
