The Cassard class (type F70 AA ) is an air defense destroyer of the French Navy. The hull corresponds to the the Georges Leygues class, where there are significant differences in the drive and the armament. The main task of this class is the Verbandsflugababwehr. In addition, the ships of this class can also be used for maritime surveillance.
The experience gained during the construction of this class were incorporated into the design considerations for the La Fayette class.
