Castel d'Ario

Castel d' Ario (formerly Castellaro ) is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 4834 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Mantua in Lombardy. The municipality is situated approximately 14 km east-northeast of Mantua on Tione and directly borders the province of Verona.

History

The fief of Castellaro enjoyed considerable independence in 1797 to the secularization of the States of the environment.

Traffic

Passing through the municipality, the former Strada Statale 10 Padana Inferiore (now a regional road ) and the Strada Statale 249 Orientale Gardesana (now a provincial road ). On the railway line from Mantua to Monselice there is a train station.
