History

A number of historians believe that Castel Forte was built on the ruins of the Aurunkerstadt Vescia, which was destroyed 314 BC by the Romans. Even if you have made numerous archaeological finds from this period in the municipality, this thesis can not be proved so far.

The medieval Castel Forte was in the migration period, when the inhabitants of the coastal plain examined more easily defensible spaces in the nearby mountains. Since the Middle Ages it belonged to the Duchy Traetto. 1809-1820 and 1928-1947, it was associated with Santi Cosma e Damiano in a community.
